Preschool & Kindergarten Screenings

Early intervention is key when it comes to a child’s development as it is known to provide superior outcomes. This can significantly impact their overall education. Our cost-effective and efficient screening program is available both in preschool and school settings. This allows parents to determine whether their child could benefit from speech therapy.

Conducting screenings in preschools or classrooms ensures a comfortable environment for children, allowing us to collaborate with educators and teachers in order to gather valuable insights. We individually assess children in the areas listed below and provide parents with a summary report within two weeks. This report not only pinpoints areas of strength and weakness, but also offers recommendations for further assessment and/or monitoring.

Depending on your child’s age, the screening will cover:

  • Pre-verbal skills including joint attention, play skills, imitation skills and turn-taking
  • Receptive (understanding) and expressive (speaking) language
  • Articulation/speech sounds
  • Stuttering
  • Voice
  • General behaviour and social skills
  • Phonological awareness/pre- and early-literacy skills
